About Regional Leaders

Questacon Regional Leaders strengthen STEM education across Australia by connecting educators with professional learning, local networks and practical resources that build confidence, capability and community. Whether you’re new to teaching STEM, teaching out-of-field, or looking to grow your connections, we’re here to support you.

What we offer

Questacon Regional Leaders support educators through practical professional learning and strong communities that make STEM easy to understand, meaningful and confidence‑building. From hands‑on workshops that help educators feel comfortable teaching STEM, to national communities of practice that encourage sharing and connection, our offerings are designed to support teachers at every stage - whether you’re new to STEM or looking to grow your skills and network.

Starting in STEM Professional Learning Workshops

Starting in STEM is a hands-on 90-120 minute workshop that builds confidence in teaching STEM through empathy, design thinking and real-world inquiry.

Educators explore key learner dispositions, unpack how students learn best and practise simple design-thinking routines. You’ll walk away with curriculum-aligned, practical, low-tech STEM activities ready for immediate use.

Delivered nationally by Questacon Regional Leaders, Starting in STEM is ideal for pre-service teachers, early-career educators, out-of-field teachers, and anyone wanting STEM education to feel purposeful, relevant and connected to community.

Questacon Educator Communities of Practice

Questacon Regional Leaders host in-person and virtual Community of Practice meetings in 12 regions around the country. These networking sessions bring together educators in regional, remote and low socio-economic schools and areas to share practice, connect and discover new resources, and are supported by Educator Programs’ Diamond Partner, Department of Defence.

This is your chance to step out of the classroom and into a vibrant community of like‑minded teachers, school leaders, and STEM champions from across the state. Expect inspiring conversations, practical ideas you can take straight back to your classroom, and plenty of opportunities to share what’s working (and what you’re curious to try next).

Whether you’re new to STEM, teaching out‑of‑field, or a seasoned innovator, you’ll find support, fresh perspectives, and real connections. The focus is on collaboration, confidence‑building, and community— all in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Q.Ed Community – Connect, Share, Grow

Questacon’s Education Community of Practice is a hub for state-based, teacher-led, Questacon-supported communities of practice across the nation. The Q. Ed Community platform increases access to peer networks and STEM resources by providing classroom-ready resources, a channel for conversation, professional learning opportunities and virtual meet-ups.

The Q.Ed Community is a supportive network where educators build capability, confidence and connection in STEM. Here educators can connect, share and grow their professional practice.

Q.Ed Community is open to state network participants and alumni of Questacon Education Programs. You can find all of Questacon’s educator focused events on our Educator Resources and Programs page. Check back often as we’re continually working to support you and your learners.
