The Privacy Act and your personal information
Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre (Questacon) is a division of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (department) and Questacon follows the department’s policies. Questacon collects, uses and discloses your personal information to communicate information for programs, resources, tours, ticketing, memberships, special offers, promotions or respond to enquiries.

How collection occurs
We collect your personal information where it is reasonably necessary for or directly related to the performance of our functions or activities. Questacon may collect personal information directly from you or another person, as part of:
• tour bookings and schedules
• ticket bookings and management
• promotional news and offers
• membership management
• delivering education programs or resources
• stakeholder management
• responding to your query
• your involvement in a specific project
• conducting research activities.
We collect this personal information from you at the time you email us, submit an online form, submit an application, process a purchase and booking, register your details online or lodge a phone enquiry.
How do we use and disclose your personal information?

Questacon may use your personal information for promotion, news and to notify you of similar programs, resources, initiatives or events. Any use or disclosure will be in compliance with the Privacy Act and there will always be a simple means by which you can request to not receive the material.
What happens if you don’t provide your information?
If you don’t provide your personal information, we may not be able to offer memberships, process ticketing or purchases, arrange tours or bookings, participate in events or workshops, respond to your query or complaint, or notify you of certain information or outcomes.
Who do we disclose your personal information to?
We may disclose your personal information outside Questacon if lawfully required. Your personal information may be disclosed to entities, bodies or persons including:
