Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre has partnered with its counterpart in Thailand to help promote the public awareness of science in both nations.
Questacon and Thailand’s National Science Museum have formally entered into a cooperative agreement which will see both organisations work closely together to share information, resources and expertise in the critical areas of science engagement and education.
Under the cooperative agreement, Questacon and the National Science Museum will identify opportunities for the exchange of staff and experts and share ideas on exhibitions and educational programmes.
It will also give both organisations the chance to coordinate and participate in joint academic activities such as seminars, conferences, exhibitions and publications.
The National Science Museum is one of Thailand’s leading science education institutions and, like Questacon, is home to scientific exhibitions and activities aimed at informing and entertaining visitors of all ages.
The agreement, which is for three years, was signed by Mr Sakorn Chanapaithoon, Acting President of the National Science Museum, and Questacon Director Professor Graham Durant.
Professor Durant said the agreement was a great opportunity for both parties to learn from leaders in their respective fields in Australia and Thailand.
“Countries around the world are engaged in programmes to promote awareness and interest in science and technology,” Professor Durant said.
“This agreement will help with the sharing of novel approaches and best practice to the benefits of both organisations and their respective communities.”
