Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre has been rated the most satisfying attraction in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). These findings were the result of two reports commissioned by the National Capital Educational Tourism Project (NCETP).
In the first of the two reports ‘Size and Effect of School Excursions to the National Capital 2015’, teachers visiting the ACT scored Questacon 4.82 out of 5, providing Questacon with the highest satisfaction rating of all experiences throughout Canberra.
The second report, ‘Measuring the Impact of School Visits to the National Capital on Students’ found that science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) based activities and content offered in the ACT are meeting and exceeding students’ expectations.
Questacon welcomes more than 130,000 students and teachers each year across two facilities in Canberra. This result recognises Questacon’s ongoing commitment to work with and inspire students visiting the nation’s capital. These findings also demonstrate the important role Questacon has in supporting students and teachers by making STEM subjects fun and engaging.
ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr MLA launched the two commissioned reports on Monday 23 May 2016. The reports, prepared by the Centre for Tourism Research, University of Canberra and The University of Queensland Business School, found that schools visiting the ACT have a direct economic impact of over $100 million.
