On Friday 23 November, Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre was honoured to win the Tourist Attraction Award at the 2018 Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards.
The annual Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards showcase the best of the region’s tourism industry products and promote, encourage and reward tourism excellence.
“Questacon is delighted to have been acknowledged for our ongoing commitment to the ACT’s tourism industry and is proud to have accomplished this feat 14 years running,” said Kate Driver, acting Questacon Director.
Questacon’s iconic science centre in the Parliamentary Zone is one of Australia’s leading tourist attractions, welcoming over half a million visitors annually, and reaching millions more through outreach programs delivered in communities across the nation.
Questacon welcomes everybody. People from all walks of life, ages and abilities can enjoy Questacon’s hands-on exhibits and science demonstrations.
“This Award recognises the passion and dedication of over 300 staff and volunteers. It is particularly special this year as we are celebrate our 30th anniversary as Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre.
“Since opening in 1988, over 11 million people have experienced Questacon’s unique brand of science engagement at the Centre here in Canberra.
“With our new Moon exhibit, we hope to continue inspiring curiosity and a thirst for learning for the next 30 years and beyond,” said Kate Driver, acting Questacon Director.
Questacon continues to support and collaborate with attractions in the region to deliver a world-class tourism experience for tourists to Canberra. Questacon is proud to have been consistently recognised as leader in the industry.
Questacon will represent Canberra and the Capital Region at the Australian Tourism Awards in Launceston in March 2019.
